Product Description

Introducing Masque from Splash Products - the most elegant, cost-effective, and convenient way to protect the screen of your coveted device. Masque is made from superior quality 3-layer PET film imported from Japan. The film ensures zero-to-minimal bubbles during application, applies easily, and is reusable. The film takes all the abuse and protects your screen from scratches, dust, normal signs of wear. It has just the right level of thickness - not too thin to be ineffective, yet not too thick to impede the touch feature of your device. It allows you to use your device with ease. Apply the Masque to your device and you will forget it's even there, yet your screen will have the protection it needs.

Apple's Smart Cover will protect your iPad's screen when it is not in use, but you need protection from scratches and sticky fingers of your little ones when using the iPad.

Go ahead - Splash your iPad 2 with invisible protection!

A little difficult to put on, but well worth the results

I have used the Zagg skins on my electronics before, but I was disappointed with the results. They left odd streaks on the screen (like a halo effect) and you had to wait 24 hours for them to dry, only then to discover air bubbles around the dust you missed on the screen.

The Splash Masque Screen Protectors are made from the same material that the Power Support company uses, which in my opinion, is a lot easier to apply and looks much better on the device. This particular film is "clear" so it doesn't have any anti-reflective properties. It actually looks and feels just like the original screen on the iPad 2, so you won't even notice it is there. It has the correct cutouts for the home button and the front-facing camera. It covers the entire glass surface of the iPad 2, maybe coming short a millimeter or two around the perimeter.

This screen protector does not have a sticky adhesive; it uses a static "cling" to stay in place. This is great, because if you apply it wrong, you can easily lift it off and apply it again. Also, since there is no adhesive, it won't mess with the iPad's oleophobic coating. However, there is one drawback to the static cling: it immediately attracts dust particles which can result in air bubbles on your screen. Here is some of my advice for applying it:

1. Apply it in the bathroom. Run your shower for a couple minutes so your bathroom gets humid. This seems to help the dust in the room to "settle down" so it is not floating in the air (and immediately attracted to the screen protector when you open it). If you have an air purifier handy, maybe bring it to the bathroom too and run it on high.

2. Use a bright light to inspect your iPad's screen. Wipe off any dust or hair particles with the included microfiber cloth. A can of compressed air can help.

3. Peel of the #1 tab, exposing the static cling side of the screen. This is when you're likely to attract dust to the protector. Immediately try to line up the home button and camera holes and apply the protector to minimize any dust from clinging to the screen. Since these protectors are not sticky, you can lift it off and re-apply it if need be; just be careful not to attract more dust in the process (I know, easier said than done).

4. Use the included card to try and smooth out the air bubbles from the center first. If you see a bubble with a speck of dust in it, lightly peel back the protector and use tweezers to remove the dust if you can. Then slowly work out the rest of the air bubbles from the center out. If you have multiple dust bubbles right away that you can't smooth out, you may be better off moving on to another screen protector (thankfully, they include 3) and trying again.
UPDATE (4/2/11) - Special thanks to M. Ketteman for this tip: If you see a speck of dust under the protector, peel it back and slip a piece of Scotch tape underneath to grab it. I tried this while applying a friend's protector and it was easier than using tweezers!

5. Finally, peel off the #2 tab, being careful not to peel off the actual screen protector. If you need to lift the protector off later, use a piece of scotch tape to gently lift up one of the edges. This can be useful if you later notice a speck of dust near the edge of the screen.

Of course, there is a big debate as to whether you actually need a screen protector or not. I know people with iPads and iPhones who never got a scratch without a protector. But I also know people that did. Since this film is crystal clear and doesn't change the touch responsiveness of the screen, what can it hurt to have a little extra protection on your investment?

Quality product, does the job its supposed to do.

As the title says, this is a quality screen protector that works/fits great on my iPad2. Unfortunately, I wasted one cover on my first application attempt, and made the mistake of peeling off the backing while holding the protector vertically, and it immediately attracted particles of dust to it (don't make the same mistake!). On my second attempt, I held the protector directly (parallel) over the iPad2, and slowly peeled the cover back as I laid it down on the tablet...much, much better. A few pressed-out air bubbles later, it looks perfect and does exactly what it's supposed to do. I'm certain I'll be buying more of these in the future.

Excellet Quality Screen Protector

Just finished installing the Splash Masque on my iPad 2 and to be honest I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it is. I am a loyal Power Support customer but the iPad 2 screens aren't due out for another month or so. So I figured while I'm waiting for those to become available I will install one of these Splash Masques in the interim. Well after getting it installed I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. Extremely clear and also has a very silky feel to it. For all you iPad 2 owners with Smart Covers, it also wakes it from sleep with the Masque installed. The biggest challenge with any Screen protector is getting it installed properly with no air bubbles. TAKE YOUR TIME!! If you do screw up at least they include three so there is some room for error. I honestly do not think I will be ordering one from Power Support and I never thought I would say that. These are an excellent value at $18 for three versus $30 for one from Power Support. Highly Recommended!!
